It innovates by replacing the traditional extra point kick with three scoring options post-touchdown: a run or pass for 1 point from the 2-yard line, 2 points from the 5-yard line, or 3 points from the 10-yard line, adding a strategic layer to scoring.

To accelerate game pace, the UFL sets the play clock at 35 seconds, restarts the game clock after incomplete passes or out-of-bounds plays outside the two-minute warning, and shortens halftime to 12 minutes.
